Mapeo Typhoon Haiyan

Millions of people have been affected by the typhoon which swept through the Philippines with winds gusting up to 270km/h. Parts of the low-lying islands were completely flattened and many hundreds of thousands of people are now homeless. In total, 670,000 people have been displaced and death toll rises over 5,000.
This is one of the worst natural disasters that have ever happened in the Philipines. I think that is very sad that almost 5000people have lost their lives and that almost all the buildings of the zone have been destroyed. The best thing that authorities could do in natural disasters like this is to evacuate the place to ensure the safety of the citizens.

Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker dies in California car crash

US actor Paul Walker, who starred in the Fast & Furious series of action films, has died in a car crash in California. Walker, 40, was a passenger in a Porsche sports car driven by a friend, wh also died,when it crashed north of Los Angeles. Walker was said to be attending a charity event at the time. He starred in all but one of the films in the Fast & Furious franchise, the sixth of which opened in May. Some movie stars have expressed their condolences on social networks. Really, this news has affected me so much and obviously I did not expect it. I was really surprised when I saw the news and I am sad that it happened, because the accident it could have been avoided. I am fan of his films like Too Fast, Too Furious, and it was an amazing actor. I can only say: Rest In Peace Paul.

New York train crash: Metro-North derailment in Bronx

Four people have been killed and 63 injured in a passenger train crash in the Bronx area of New York City.  The train - the 05:54 from Poughkeepsie to Grand Central Station - was travelling much faster than normal at the time.The Metro-North train's locomotive and carriages derailed as the train went into a bend in the railway line near Spuyten Duyvil station.

In my opinion, this tragic derailment was due to high speed of the train at the moment, and therefore I believe that it is the train triver's fault. It is very sad that 4 people have lost their lives in the accident. However, the number of victims is small. I think that the speed in trains should be more controlled because it is not the first time that happens something like this. Recently, it happened in San Sebastián, Spain, and it was worse.

Dozens injured in Hong Kong ferry boat crash

Dozens of people were injured Friday in a high-speed ferry boat accident off of Hong Kong's coast. At least 85 people were injured, six seriously and there were 107 passengers and 10 crew members aboard the ferry at the time of the incident. Last year, dozens of people were killed after two ferry boats collided in Hong Kong's harbor.

I think that this event could have been worse and that it could had have more death tolls. That's why I think that it was not so tragic. Authorities should be more aware and careful with this zone of the harbor.

Sweet winter

Winter is the coldest season of the year but despite that, it is my favourite season.

In those days, streets are sorrowful because there are not people in them, trees are without leaves and night comes right away. However, winter is the season in which we feel most comfortable at night because we can sleep covered up and warmly. It is also a good season because you know that despite the bad weather Christmas is near. 

In winter you have more variety of clothes and complements because you can use gloves, scarfs, jackets, etc. You can also enjoy the weather and do a great range of sports like skying and ice skating. And each year, people of all ages are waiting for snow to see if they can play with it.

I like winter because we can feel a very special atmosphere that there is not in other seasons.

Whatsapp abuse

Whatsapp is an application that allows you to speak with people from all around the world by just recording their telephone number in your phone and then chat through messages. The application is able to send images and videos, and just recently, the program also allows to send voice recordings. Along with the messages you can send emoticons, and like that you can describe in a vivid and funny way your mood. People that use whatsapp often have an obsession of sending messages constantly and are not able to leave their mobiles for a second. That's why a lot of experts are describing this syndrome like "the syndrome of the eternally conectated". 

Halloween

In Spain, the tradition of celebrating Halloween is not very well-rooted, but despite that it is increasing the number of Spanish kids that go out to the streets to ask for sweets for this celebration. A lot of children get dress up and ask for sweets, candies and chocolate. When they arrive to the homes' doors they say: Trick or treat? If they choose treat people give them sweets, but if they choose the other way around most kids will throw eggs to their houses as a revenge. This celebrated on 31 of October, the eve of the christian All Hallows' Day. The tradition originated in Scotland around 1745 but nowadays is growing around the world.

At least four people have been killed and dozens injured as a passenger train crashed in the Bronx area of New York City. Several of the Metro-North train's carriages derailed as the train went into a bend in the railway line and more than 100 firefighters are at the scene. The derailment had occurred at 07:20 near Spuyten Duyvil station. Authorities are still investigating the incident.
